I read a story called, Am I Blue?, by Bruce Caville. Its about this high school kid who gets picked on by a bully who's name is Butch. He would call him names like "fruit basket" and "faggot" just because he thinks the kid is gay. After he was demolished by butch, sees a tall, slender man looking right at him. He is a fairy godfather. Hes name is Melvin. Melvin grants him three wishes the kid like to do. They started out on the bad foot but toward the end of the story they start to build a good relationship. Melvin gave the kid to ability to see who is gay by using the "gaydor". He can tell if the person gay if they are turning blue. They are many degrees of gay by telling if there light blue, blue or dark blue. When his final wish was butch being gay. It turned out that he was already gay.
Bullies like Butch sometimes bully people because they are hiding something about themselves or they don't want to be judge. Butch was bullying the main character because he thought he was gay, but he also did that so he can cover the fact that he was gay. This what takes Gaybashing to closer details. If you haven't notice, there is a lot of gay people around you. From reading this story, gay people are very artistic when they want to be. I have close friends that are gay, and they are pleasant to hangout with. They taught me a lot I didn't know, like if you say gay or in identifying anybody what they are in a negative, non-professional way, you be charge and get in trouble. Gay people are the same as straight people. We are all equal. We can walk, talk and eat. Don't make people who is different from you in a horrible way. Imagin, if we were all the same, life will maybe be boring.
I love your last sentence - so true!
