The Drummer Boy of Shiloh

I read a story called, "The Drummer boy of Shiloh written by Ray Bradbury". Joby, a 14 year old boy, who have join the military as a drummer boy. Joby starts out with a very low self of steam. He feels that his position as the drummer boy, just a drum and a two sticks, is nothing compare to the rest of the soldiers. He probably thinks that he not important and asking to himself, why do they need a drummer boy? When the general whispers to the boy, Joby thought he was the only one who wont die. It might seem as a good thing not to die but what he means that he wont be proud about it because he didn't do anything. Joby thinks hes nothing and meaningless. When the general questions Joby if hes ready for tomorrow. The general has faith for this battle. As he told Joby that he cried, he said" its the truth. Thinking of everything ahead. Both side figuring the other side will give up and soon, and the war done in weeks and us all home. well that's not how it's going to be. And maybe that's why I cried." The general believes in everybody and then gets Joby really hyped up. When the generals said their speech to the soldiers, Joby was inspired and convinced that he was important. ( The general was looking at Joby when talking ) He is the back bone to this army and with out him they will collapse.

Joby in the the story started out thinking negative and not caring about his drum because he thought they didnt need him. When the general saw him, he was like his mentor to Joby. he taught him that no one had small part and we wh\e are like family. Every body need each other no matter what.
